Ingredients

4 cups of stale croissant or puff pastry, torn into pieces

6 cups of whole milk

1 cup of heavy cream

1 cup of sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

1 cup of chopped mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts)

1/2 cup of raisins or dried fruits of choice

1/2 cup of shredded coconut (optional)

1/2 cup of butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with a little bit of melted butter.

Scatter the torn pieces of croissant or puff pastry evenly in the baking dish. Sprinkle half of the chopped nuts and dried fruits over the top.

In a large saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is just about to boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

Once the milk mixture is hot, remove it from heat. Pour this mixture evenly over the pastry pieces in the baking dish. Make sure to coat everything well. Then, gently press down the top with a spatula to help it soak up the liquid.

Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the mixture, and sprinkle the remaining nuts and coconut (if using).

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Om Ali is delicious both warm and at room temperature.

Serve with a drizzle of honey or a scoop of ice cream for an added treat!
