Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

3 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for flavor)

Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme, optional for garnish)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and garlic powder until well combined.

In a separate bowl, mix the milk and olive oil until combined. If using fresh herbs, chop them finely and add them to this mixture.

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms. It should be soft but not sticky. If the dough is too wet, add a little more flour.

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it for about 1-2 minutes until it becomes smooth. Be careful not to over-knead.

Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten each ball slightly into a disk.

Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Grease it lightly with a bit of oil or non-stick spray.

Place the flattened dough disks in the hot skillet, making sure to leave some space in between each one. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until bubbles form on the surface, then flip them over.

Cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove the bread from the skillet and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Optionally, brush them with melted butter or olive oil for a savory finish.

Serve warm with your favorite spreads, dips, or toppings!
