Ingredients

1 cup basmati rice

1 ¼ cups water (or broth for added flavor)

1 tablespoon unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)

½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Fresh herbs for garnish (like cilantro or parsley - optional)

Instructions

Rinse the Rice: Begin by thoroughly rinsing the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from being sticky. Drain well.

Add Ingredients to Instant Pot: Place the rinsed basmati rice in the Instant Pot. Pour in 1 ¼ cups of water (or broth), add salt, and if desired, add butter or olive oil for extra flavor.

Seal the Instant Pot: Close the lid of the Instant Pot and ensure the pressure release valve is set to the sealing position.

Set Cooking Time: Select the “Rice” setting, or if your Instant Pot doesn't have this, manually set it to high pressure for 6 minutes.

Natural Release: Once the cooking time is complete, allow for a natural pressure release for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully switch the valve to “venting” to release any remaining steam.

Fluff the Rice: After all the pressure has been released, open the lid and use a fork to fluff the rice gently. This helps separate the grains.

Garnish and Serve: If desired, sprinkle fresh herbs over the top for added flavor and color. Serve the basmati rice with your favorite dishes.
