Ingredients

12 Hawaiian rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon coconut oil (or butter)

1 cup fresh pineapple, diced

Maple syrup, for serving

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Toasted coconut flakes, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Rolls: Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them intact to create pockets for filling if desired. If you want to add any fillings like cream cheese or whipped cream, now is the time to do so.

Make the Custard Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar until well combined and smooth.

Soak the Rolls: Dip each Hawaiian roll half into the custard mixture, ensuring they are well-coated but not overly soggy. Allow them to soak for about 1-2 minutes per side.

Prepare the Skillet: Heat the coconut oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot and melted, reduce to medium-low heat.

Cook the French Toast: Place the soaked Hawaiian rolls cut-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and slightly crisp on the outside.

Add Pineapple: In the last minute of cooking, add the diced fresh pineapple into the skillet around the rolls, allowing it to caramelize slightly.

Plate and Serve: Serve the Hawaiian roll French toast warm, drizzled with maple syrup. Dust with powdered sugar and sprinkle toasted coconut flakes on top for an extra tropical touch.

Enjoy!: This delightful breakfast is best enjoyed immediately while it's warm and delicious!
