Ingredients

1 cup tahini (sesame paste)

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup pistachios, chopped (or nuts of your choice)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

Optional: 1/2 tsp cardamom powder for extra flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Pan: Line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later. Set aside.

Make the Syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat. Let it boil for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

Combine Tahini and Syrup: In a mixing bowl, place the tahini, chopped nuts, vanilla extract, salt, and cardamom (if using). Gradually pour the hot syrup over the tahini mixture while stirring continuously until well combined and smooth.

Pour into the Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and use a spatula to evenly spread and press it down firmly. Tap the pan on the counter a few times to remove any air bubbles.

Let it Set: Allow the halva to cool at room temperature for about an hour, then place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to firm up completely.

Slice and Serve: Once the halva is set, lift it out of the pan using the overhanging parchment paper. Cut into squares or rectangles and serve. Enjoy your sweet treat!
