Ingredients

4 slices of thick-cut bread (such as brioche or challah)

2 large eggs

1 cup of whole milk

2 tablespoons of granulated sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

2 tablespoons of brown sugar

Fresh fruit (such as sliced bananas or strawberries, for topping)

Maple syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.

Once the butter is melted and bubbling, dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side to absorb the liquid.

Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes.

While the first side cooks, sprinkle a tablespoon of brown sugar over the top of the bread, allowing it to caramelize as the other side cooks.

Flip the slices over carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes until golden and caramelized on that side as well.

Repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter as needed.

Serve hot, topped with your choice of fresh fruit and a generous drizzle of maple syrup.
