Ingredients

1 cup dulce de leche

1 cup heavy cream, chilled

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large egg whites

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

A pinch of salt

Optional: chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

Whip the Cream: In a medium mixing bowl, pour the chilled heavy cream and add the vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip. Once ready, gently fold in the dulce de leche until fully combined. Set aside.

Prepare the Egg Whites: In a separate clean mixing bowl, add the egg whites and a pinch of salt. Using a clean mixer, whip the egg whites until frothy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the dulce de leche and whipped cream mixture. Do this gradually, ensuring you keep the volume intact. Use a spatula in a folding motion to maintain the airy texture.

Chill: Once completely mixed, transfer the mousse into individual serving glasses or bowls. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Serve: Before serving, you can garnish the mousse with chocolate shavings, a dusting of cocoa powder, or a drizzle of extra dulce de leche for added indulgence.
