Ingredients

1 cup dulce de leche

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for sweeter taste)

1/4 teaspoon salt

Whipped cream (for topping)

Chocolate shavings or cacao nibs (for garnish)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and dulce de leche. Use a hand mixer to blend until smooth and creamy, ensuring there are no lumps.

In another large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. This will give the mousse its light, airy texture.

Gently fold about one-third of the whipped cream into the dulce de leche mixture to lighten it. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

Gradually fold in the remaining whipped cream until fully combined, being mindful to keep the mixture airy.

Add vanilla extract and salt, and mix gently to incorporate. If you prefer a sweeter mousse, add powdered sugar to taste and mix.

Spoon the mousse into individual serving cups or a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Just before serving, top each mousse with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or cacao nibs for added texture and decoration.
