Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

8 slices of Swiss cheese

8 slices of ham (preferably smoked or honey ham)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup Swiss cheese (shredded)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Take each chicken breast and place it between two sheets of plastic wrap. Gently pound the chicken to a uniform thickness of about 1/2 inch using a meat mallet or rolling pin.

Once flattened, season each chicken breast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

On each chicken breast, lay 2 slices of Swiss cheese and 2 slices of ham. Carefully roll the chicken breasts tightly, starting from one end. Secure with toothpicks, if necessary, to hold the filling inside.

Set up a dredging station: Place flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in another dish, and mix the breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt in a third dish.

Dip each chicken roll first into the flour, shaking off the excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs, ensuring an even coating.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken rolls and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.

Transfer the browned chicken rolls to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

While the chicken is baking, prepare the creamy Swiss cheese sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and shredded Swiss cheese. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Serve the Chicken Cordon Bleu with a generous drizzle of creamy Swiss cheese sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley.
