Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

½ cup sour cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup chocolate frosting (for topping)

Optional: extra chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well until combined.

Incorporate Sour Cream: Stir in the sour cream until the mixture is smooth and well mixed.

Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Scoop and Shape: Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each because they will spread.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.

Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting: Once cookies are completely cooled, add a dollop of chocolate frosting on top of each cookie. Optionally, sprinkle with chocolate shavings for an extra touch.
