Crispy Chilli Beef (with Sweet Chilli) - Chinese Shredded Beef

500g beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

1 cup cornstarch

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for marinade)

1 teaspoon black pepper

2-3 green chilies, finely sliced (adjust to taste)

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 onion, thinly sliced

3-4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

1/4 cup water

2 tablespoons sesame oil

Salt to taste

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Cooked rice, for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef, cornstarch, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, vegetable oil, and black pepper. Mix until the beef is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

    Fry the Beef: Heat a large amount of oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the marinated beef strips in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

      Stir-fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, discard excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the minced garlic, ginger, sliced onion, bell pepper, and green chilies. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender.

        Combine and Sauce: Lower the heat to medium. Add the crispy beef back to the skillet along with sweet chili sauce and water. Toss everything together to coat the beef and vegetables evenly. Allow it to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through and thicken slightly.

          Finish Up: Drizzle sesame oil over the top for flavor and mix well. Taste for seasoning and add salt if needed.

            Serve: Plate the Crispy Chilli Beef and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately over a bed of rice if desired.
