Ingredients

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for topping)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

12 mini cupcake liners

1/4 cup crushed nuts (almonds or pecans) – optional

Instructions

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semisweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.

Prepare the Liner: Place the mini cupcake liners in a muffin tin. This will help to keep the cups stable while you fill them.

First Layer: Using a spoon or a brush, coat the inside of each cupcake liner with a layer of melted chocolate, about 1/4 inch thick. Ensure the bottom and sides are covered. Reserve some melted chocolate for the topping.

Chill: Place the tray in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is set.

Prepare the Caramel Mixture: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the caramel sauce, heavy cream, sea salt, and vanilla extract. Stir until fully combined and warm, but not boiling.

Fill with Caramel: Carefully remove the muffin tin from the refrigerator. Spoon a layer of the caramel mixture into each chocolate-coated cup, filling them about 3/4 full. If desired, sprinkle crushed nuts on top of the caramel for added texture.

Top with Chocolate: Pour the remaining melted chocolate over each caramel-filled cup, sealing them completely. Smooth the tops with a spatula if necessary.

Chill Again: Return the muffin tin to the refrigerator for another 20-30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.

Serve: Once set, gently peel away the cupcake liners. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt on top of each cup for a gourmet touch. Enjoy your indulgent treat!
