Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 large onions, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, minced

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

4 green onions, chopped

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon sugar

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, mix the beef slices with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and sugar. Allow it to marinate for at least 15-30 minutes.

Prepare the Stir-Fry: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Onions: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add onions and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.

Add Garlic and Ginger: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Incorporate Bell Peppers: Add the sliced bell pepper and continue to stir-fry for another 2 minutes until slightly tender.

Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the pan, along with any juices. Drizzle with the sesame oil and toss everything together until well combined and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.

Finish with Green Onions: Stir in the chopped green onions just before serving for a fresh crunch.

Serve: Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with extra green onions if desired.
