Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup sour cherries, pitted and chopped (you can use canned or frozen)

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting

Whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Melt the Butter and Chocolate: In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and chopped semi-sweet chocolate over low heat, stirring regularly until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix Sugars and Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and the melted chocolate mixture. Mix until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Cherries and Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chopped sour cherries and dark chocolate chips if using. Ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the brownie batter.

Bake: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
