1 cup milk (whole or almond)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted (for greasing)

Maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Bread: Cut each slice of bread into 3 equal strips to form sticks.

Mix the Egg Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using) until well combined.

Dip the Bread Sticks: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, making sure to coat each side evenly. Allow any excess to drip off.

Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs and granulated sugar.

Coat the Bread Sticks: Carefully roll the dipped bread sticks in the panko mixture until fully coated, then place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake: Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the coated sticks. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar.
