Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-seasoned)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup milk

4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a light coat of oil.

Make the Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined and form the mixture into 4-6 equal-sized patties.

Brown the Patties: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the hamburger patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they have developed a good crust. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Layer the Potatoes: In the prepared baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes evenly at the bottom.

Combine Soup and Milk: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Pour half of this mixture over the layer of sliced potatoes.

Add Patties and Finish Layering: Place the browned hamburger patties on top of the potatoes. Pour the remaining soup mixture over the patties.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
